We love the Nik Software filters and find that there is enough variety to fulfill just about every need we've come across. In fact, it's a delight to explore and experiment with them, sometimes yielding great surprises. Our favorite filter is the Dynamic Skin Softener, which greatly reduces the amount of time needed to retouch our portraits. This is especially true when we save the settings and apply the same effect to many files.

The Vignette Blur is perfect in either low key or high key situations, and we find Nik also has the best soft focus filter we've used. The Classical Soft Focus filter does a terrific job of reproducing the focus effect we were familiar with back when we were using
