In 1993, Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, approached Rick to create for Disney a wedding photography department. With 20 years experience, Rick became the Senior Wedding Photographer for Disney. Walt Disney World became the worlds’ most sought after wedding destination! As the department grew with four photographers working under Rick, it also became an avenue for television weddings. Rick was a photographer for ABC’s “Weddings of a Lifetime” and weddings on the highly successful “Regis & Kathie Lee Show”. In 1999 Rick wrote his first book,“Creative Techniques For Lighting and Posing”, published by Amherst Media. Since then, Rick has published a second & third book and is committed to Amherst for three more.  Because of Rick’s experience as a photographer, author and teacher, he is asked to speak at professional guilds, conferences and conventions.  Wedding Portrait Photographers International asked Rick to give numerous programs at their national convention in Las Vegas. In 2002, his wife Deborah joined him on the speaking tour.

 

As a member of Professional Photographers of America, Rick has received his PPA Master Photographer & Craftsman degree.  He has also earned the honor of his images meriting the Loan Collection and Showcase Collection. Rick has an Associate of Science Degree and is a WPPI Master Photographer. At FPP, 2001 Rick received first place in “Social Function Portrait”,  “Best of Show” with a perfect score of 100 for his print “Postcard From The Edge” .The image was captured with a Hasseblad. He was honored by, Kodak with the Kodak Gallery Masterpiece Award. In 2006 Rick received, along with his wife, the United Nations Leadership Award from the International Photographic Council.

Deborah has been on the fast track in photography since 1996 when her passion for photography became more than a serious hobby. Even though her background as a water-color artist gave her a great eye for photography, she wanted to increase her technical skills to a higher level. In 1996, she enrolled in the University of North Florida and after several classes in photography she was honored by her work exhibited in the University’s Student Art Show. Since then, she has traveled extensively in the United States and Europe studying with master photographers at workshops including Palm Beach Photographic Center, Sante Fe workshop, PPA and WPPI workshops. Some of the master photographers she has studied with are Tim Kelly, Larry Peters, Bobbi Lane, and Monte Zucker. 

Deborah was an active member and served on the board of the Jacksonville Camera Club from 1996 to 2001. After winning numerous awards for her portrait work, Deborah decided to open for business. Since opening her photography studio, in addition to her portrait and digital artistry work, her clients have included Pillsbury, the Broach School, Bank of America, Kingdom Keys Music,  Stellar’s Gallery and Target to name a few. 

Deborah has her Masters from WPPI, Wedding and Portrait Photographers International, is a PPA, Professional Photographers of America, Craftsman and is currently working toward her master’s in photography from PPA. Her work is in the WPPI Album and the PPA Loan Collection. She is an active member of such professional organizations as FPP, PPA, NAPP, WPPI and her local guild, PPSNF. In 2006 Deborah received, along with her husband, the United Nations Leadership Award from the International Photographic Council. Deborah has authored “Artistic Techniques Using Photoshop and Painter”, published by Amherst Media.

Deborah has extensive training in Photoshop, and is a member of National Association of Photoshop Professionals, NAPP. She is currently teaching around the country “Artistic Techniques Using Photoshop and Corel Painter for Photographers.” Some of the Photoshop techniques highlighted in her classes are in “Wedding Photography with Adobe Photoshop” published by Amherst Media that she has co-authored with her husband, Rick Ferro.
