Ellen Anon is an internationally recognized fine art and nature photographer, educator, and writer. Although she first began photography as a preschooler, she earned a PhD in clinical psychology. In the mid1990's she began to pursue her photography more seriously and for a number of years she practiced both careers. As a psychologist she tended to focus on developing the uniqueness of each individual. It was an easy transition into the world of nature photography, where she could capture fleeting moments and beauty that are all too easy to miss in the rush of everyday life.
Ellen has received numerous awards for her photography including a "Highly Commended" in the very prestigious 2009 BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Other images have received honorable mentions and been finalists in the Nature's Best Windland Smith Rice competition in addition to being selected for use in the 2007 and 2010 Inner Reflections calendar, one of the premier nature photography calendars. Additionally her images have been used on greeting cards, calendars, posters, billboards, books, and fine art prints. Her images are represented by the Jaynes Gallery.
Ellen is the co-author of four bestselling books including Photoshop CS4 for Nature Photographers; A Workshop in a Book (Anon & Anon, Sybex, 2008) as well as published numerous articles and blogs on Aperture, Photoshop, and photography. She is a member of ASMP, NAPP and she is honored to be a member of Apple's Aperture Advisory Board.
A popular speaker at local and national organizations, her topics concentrate on hints for the best approaches to optimizing your images. Ellen also offers several workshops each year, some concentrating on the digital darkroom, and others on photography including Northern Lights.
