Selectively applying noise reduction can lead to an image with
better detail and clarity. By limiting where noise reduction is
applied, details in those areas that do not require noise reduction
can be preserved.
In addition to being able to apply noise reduction to the entire
image globally, Dfine 2.0 offers you three different methods of
applying noise reduction selectively.
Color Ranges: reduces noise within individual color ranges. This
method works best when applying selective noise reduction in a batch process.
Control Points : Use U Point technology to automatically isolate objects
based on their unique characteristics.
Selective Tool : Lets you apply Dfine 2.0 only where you want using
Adobe® Photoshop® or Photoshop Element's Brush Tool, automatically
and managing layers and layer masks.
Each of these different methods were designed to enable you to work in the
style that suits your workflow best and increase your efficiency dramatically.

The U Point technology powered Control Points let you identify and isolate
objects within a photograph by placing a Control Point on the object or area
to be affected. By analyzing the color, tonality, detail, and location, the
Control Point automatically determines where to apply certain affects, based
on the your needs.
Each Control Point controls Contrast and Color noise reduction applied to the
object to which it is attached. All Control Points within the active image communicate
with each other, providing continuity of control over multiple objects throughout
the image.
After configuring some Color Ranges and applying different amounts of noise reduction
to each range, you can look at the Color Noise or Contrast Noise Mask Preview
Modes to see how noise reduction is affecting the image.

The Selective Tool automates the creation of layers and layer masks within Adobe
Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop Elements, allowing you to apply Dfine 2.0 or any
of seven detail-specific Noise Brushes.
The Selective Tool can be used with pressure sensitive tablets
such as a Wacom® Pen Tablet to selectively apply noise reduction
with pressure sensitivity.
The Selective Tool is only compatible with Adobe Photoshop
and Photoshop Elements.
